RID SC:L  “Special Certification: Legal” Test offered from 1998-2016 in moratorium since 2016

RID CSC “Comprehensive Skills Certificate” Test offered from 1972-1988

RID IC “Interpretation Certificate” Test offered from 1972-1988

RID TC “Transliteration Certificate: Test offered from 1972-1988

RID CI “Certificate of Interpretation” Test offered from 1988-2008

RID CT “Certificate of Transliteration” Test offered from 1988-2008

RID NIC “National Interpreter Certification” Test available since 2005

RID NIC Advanced “National Interpreter Certification Advanced Level” Test offered from 2005-2011

RID NIC Master “National Interpreter Certification Master Level” Test offered from 2005-2011

RID CDI “Certified Deaf Interpreter” Test offered from 1998 (holders of this Certification are Deaf or Hard of Hearing)

 

BEI “Board of Evaluation of Interpreters” certifications:

BEI Advanced

BEI Master

BEI Court Interpreter Certificate (required by law in some states to interpret all courts, including Texas)

BEI Level III Intermediary holders of this Certification are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, who work alone or partner with an interpreter

BEI Level IV Intermediary holders of this Certification are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, who work alone or partner with an interpreter

BEI Level V Intermediary holders of this Certification are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, who work alone or partner with an interpreter

 

NAD “National Association of the Deaf” Certifications:

NAD V (Master) “Superior Performance” Test offered from 1990-2002

NAD IV (Advanced) “Above Average Performance” Test offered from 1990-2002 *For court use, interpreter must also have one RID certification

NAD IV with QMH “Qualified Mental Health Interpreter” *May only be utilized in mental health related court settings
